Step 2: Cut Pant Legs

Place a skirt on top of the jeans to get an idea of how much you have to cut from the legs. Use your ruler and pencil to draw a straight horizontal line slightly underneath the bottom of the skirt, then cut along the line on both legs. Remember to give yourself some extra length to be safe. You can always make it shorter later!

Step 3: Cut Crotch Opening

Once the pant legs are cut, cut along the seam of the crotch to create the skirt opening.

Step 4: Glue Back Layers

Flip the skirt over and apply fabric glue on the material to bond the layers together. Then fold the glued seam over to one side and press everything down to make sure the back is nice and smooth.

Step 5: Trim Bottom

Once glued, trim the bottom of the skirt to even it out.

Step 6: Glue Front

Flip the skirt back over so the front is facing up. Slip the end of one of the pant legs you previously cut underneath the top layer and use your pencil to mark a section of the material that will fill the gap.

Cut the material out from the pant leg and glue it onto the bottom side of the front layer of the skirt.

Then fold and glue the front seam over to the side to smooth things out, just as you did on the back. Leave the glue to dry for a few hours.

Step 7: Trim If Needed

Once the skirt has dried, try it on and trim to your desired length. That’s it!

All Done!

That’s all it takes to turn an old pair of jeans into a trendy denim skirt with no sewing at all. Simple and stylish! Thanks for checking out this tutorial and let me know if you try it out! 🙂
